June 2007

I don't look for reviews on the internet but I accidentally came across this of the Flower-Corsano Duo 7" on no-fi:

astounding free-raga-freakout single from the duo of mick flower (various leeds-based groups from the vibracathedral axis; shared an apartment with sunburned hand of the man’s john moloney for a while...) and chris corsano (who doesn’t really need an introduction at this point...)

both sides feature chris on full kit with mick sounding off on what sounds like a hurdy-gurdy plugged into a marshall stack, with one of those electronic tanpura/sruti boxes sounding off the root at all times. not since the first few skullflower singles have i heard such a triumphant blast of rock-drone-noise. superb.

not sure if it's still available, search the web I guess…

A big thanks to everyone who came to the shows in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. Special thanks to Sunburned and MV and EE and the Golden Road for the music and good times. The canadian shows also saw the release of a the michael flower band CDR featuring the line up of flower and moloney, recorded in leeds late 2006 - three tracks of guitar and drums.

Saturday 9th June Flower-Corsano Duo will support Faust at the Bongo Club in Edinburgh. It'll be an early evening start...

April 2007

Upcoming shows: June 2 Suoni Per Il Popolo festival, Montreal, Canada with Sunburned and MV and EE. A couple of other Canadian dates to be announced soon.

March 2007

Just found this from an online distributor - their description of the United Light "Let the Fuzz" CDR:

Limited debut release (first edition in coloured silkscreened card sleeves) on Mick Flower's new private imprint from this internationally-drawn free psych trio featuring Tom Greenwood of Jackie-O Motherfucker, John Moloney of Sunburned Hand Of The Man and Mick Flower of Vibracathedral Orchestra. Kinda lucid, baroque minimalist style that crosses "Paperhouse"-era Can with an electrified modal-brut take on the arachnid hydra-headed stylings of Jansch/Renbourne's work with Pentangle and the kind of eerie F/X illuminated space/blues of Manuel Gottsching's early occult workings with Ash Ra. Cut alla that with a deep-immersion in the kinda parallel electro-imaged universe that would see Alvin Curran, Richard Teitlebaum and Fred Rzewski playing post-CBGB's electro hypnosis with nothing but a fleet of Space Invader machines and you're fucking laughing.

Whew!… Think it's OOP now but there may be a few going on ebay. United Light will soon have a lathe cut available, released by alt.vinyl from Newcastle.

28_03 The "Michael Flower" and Vibracathedral Orchestra QBICO LPs are now out (go to the QBICO site for more details).

Currently digging: "Z" by The Sunburned (new on Ecstatic Peace)... CD of the year so far. Also a new Sunburned cassette (which I can't remember the name of at the moment and has been on 'loop play' in my cassette player for a couple of nights) and the Blues Control streamed audio track from the Holy Mountain website.

Vibracathedral HQ has just been updated with new items for sale.

February 2007

Many thanks to everyone who came out to the shows on the Flower-Corsano Duo tour, and to the people who organised the shows. It was a great time, I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Big thanks to Chris Corsano.

Early 2007 QBICO records of Italy will release a "Michael Flower" vinyl LP provisionally titled "Returning to Knowing Nothing (between two stools) ". This will contain selected cuts from the RTKN (Phase I) and RTKN (Phase II) CDRs made in 2003 and 2005. Cover artwork is by Robert Thomas of Sunburned.

Around the same time, QBICO will also release a new LP by Vibracathedral Orchestra "The Sun Balance/The Open Knot" made up of recordings from shows and home over the past year or so - a companion piece to "Wisdom Thunderbolt", due for release April 2007 by VHF records (cover art by {HEXIT}). Check out the VCO website for further updates soon.
